Grand Hotel 1

In the heart of Glasgow stands the historic Grand Central Hotel. A much-loved icon in the city, the hotel has undergone a £20 million refurbishment transforming it into one of Glasgow's most superior, conference, banqueting and short break destinations.

Court Catering Equipment were asked to redesign some of the catering areas and design a Deli for the Tempus Bar & Restaurant. The production kitchen for the ballroom feeds 450 covers. Court redesigned the kitchen to incorporate a new prep area and bar dispense area. We were also asked to design the Tempus area with a wood burning oven, to be situated under a listed balcony. This gave us limited head room and presented ventilation issues, which could only be solved when the wood burner became gas fired.

Some existing equipment also required refurbishing and cleaning. Quotes from suppliers local to Glasgow came in well over budget, so Court Catering Equipment transported the kit from Glasgow to Reading, for refurbishing in our own warehouse. The kitchen was finished on time within the revised budget, but upon handover we discovered that the builder’s cleaning company had ruined all of the new and existing stainless steel by using an acid based cleaner. We then had to organise a polishing company to re-polish all of the items to remove staining. More on the hotel at: Grand Hotel Glasgow
